Template Customisation
Make our template fit your project exactly.
Our legal templates are written for the way publishing creatives actually work. But every project has its own quirks: a staged payment plan, an AI use policy, a co-edit with another freelancer, a publisher with its own house rules. Template Customisation lets you hand your purchased template back to us with a list of the changes you need, and we tailor it for you.
You get a clean, ready-to-sign agreement drafted by a lawyer who knows publishing from the inside, for a fixed fee agreed upfront. No hourly billing, no surprises.
Available for any template purchased from the WordSmith Legal shop in the last 12 months.

What counts as a change
One change is an amendment to a single clause or schedule item, for example, adjusting a payment schedule, changing a notice period, narrowing a confidentiality obligation or adding a kill fee to an existing fees clause.
A new clause is a provision the template does not already contain, for example an AI use and disclosure clause, a moral rights consent or a credit and attribution clause.
